The Herby Old Orleans
Mixed by Shannon E. Thomas on March 9, 2018
Story
To celebrate Hans completing yet another trip around the sun, we created a simple concoction that was one third sazerac, one third old fashioned, and one third herby goodness. This alcohol-heavy mixture made breaking the t-rex piñata all the more fun (and challenging).
Ingredients
- 1 part herby simple syrup
- 3 parts rye whiskey
- 1 splash of peychaud’s bitters
- rosemary and thyme for garnish
Method
To make the herby simple syrup, mix 400 ml sugar with 600 ml water in a large saucepan. Add sage, rosemary, and thyme. Boil for 10 – 15 minutes. Inhale deeply. Remove from the heat and let cool before straining into a bottle for serving.
Measure and pour the whiskey and simple syrup into a glass with ice. Add the splash of bitters and stir. Garnish with the rosemary and thyme and drink up!
